The first goal is to not have email addresses forwarded. Forwarding the addresses received in an email is one way spamers pick up your name and send you spam. The example at right is one I received but is not a good forward. Gwen is a good friend and sends me many emails with good information. However she is not into editing out the junk. A. We will remove text "Fwd:" in the Subject line. B. We will remove all the data about where the email originated and who it had been sent to. C. We will remove any advertisement that may have come with the email. D. We will leave the good information intact. This is best done in a different order though. On
the subject email you would Click the button : "Forward".

The page you are forwarding should look something like this. Please realize there are many different formats that email is worked with. 1. Take your mouse to the "Subject" block and put the cursor in front of the "F", pressing the left button of the mouse down and holding it, HIGHLIGHT "FW: ". Release the button as soon as these are highlighted. Hit the "Delete" Button. Notice the gray area. This is the body of the email to be forwarded. The darker gray lines are displayed because there are different types of formatting areas within the email, set by the computer used to send the email to you. I have made this area gray to help describe this editing. the area would be white with just the gray lines. Free area is needed at the top of the page so, where I have the "3" in a circle, place your cursor and enter a few blank lines. This email has text in two places and one image. 2. With your mouse, place the cursor in front of the "M" of the word MORE and highlight all the text as I have shown in green. Hit the "Delete" Button. 3. Move your cursor to the top of the message area and like I show with "3" in the circle. Hit "Ctn" and "V"; being (edit paste). 4. Click on the image. Hit the "Delete" Button. 5. Move your cursor to the top of the message area and like I show with "5" in the circle. Hit "Ctn" and "V"; being (edit paste). 6. Repeat the process show in step 2. 7. Repeat the process show in step 3. At
this point, all the good information is removed from the old email.
Highlight the whole gray area and hit the "DELETE" button. Even that ad at the bottom is gone. That ad can contain hidden instructions to place cookies in computer memory to study your computer. Move to the next image below. |

The body of the email would now look as this image at right. In the "To" block Vern usually places an address that will send the email back to him. In the "Bcc" block He places the addresses of who he is sending the email to. It is preferred by most persons that their email address NOT appear on each persons screen that receives this multi sent email. There are a few cases where it is desirable to show who the email is sent to, on purpose. These addresses would then be place in the "Cc" block. |
