Built in 1964, for the American Mail Lines as the SS Oregon Mail, a (C4-S-1sa) Cargo Ship
MA Hull number 153 by National Steel & SB Co. San Diego, CA
Specifications:  Length 563' 8"  Beam 76';  Displacement 16,828 t. Speed 20 kts. PASSENGERS: 12 in 8 STATE ROOMS
Propulsion: Steam  w/ two boilers geared.turbine,.single.screw,.19,250shp
VIEW AML: TRAVEL BROCHURE  or  REGULATIONS

After AML became APL, in 1975 the name  was changed to SS President Kennedy
After conversion in 1972 still Oregon Trail, in 1988 she became SS Ocean Phoenix
She is now operating out of Seattle WA. Owned by PREMIER PACIFIC SEAFOODS

There was only one other ship built to the same specifications - the SS Canada Mail
This ship  became USNS H.H. Hess  AGS-38
